Summer reading promo innovation

summerreadingvideoiconIn the past our youth staff at Gail Borden Public Library used to present a fun skit at different schools in our district to promote the summer reading program.  As we serve many schools, we were finding it diffcult to present the skit at all the schools.  This year, our youth department had the brilliant idea to use the talent of our local high school students.  A staffer in the youth department wrote a script and local students filmed, directed and edited this wonderful promo.  We sent the video to schools, sent this out in eblasts and it is posted front and center on the library web site.  We have had a great response.  We also posted the video on TeacherTube so that schools that blocked youtube could view.
